The Challenge

In a market dominated by sweet, mass-produced rums, Kasa Kaña sought to introduce a new kind of Filipino spirit — one rooted in agriculture, craft, and culture. The challenge was to communicate Rum Agrikultura as both a proud local creation and a world-class contender, through symbols and design cues that honor the country’s endangered sugarcane varieties, native terroir, and craft.

Our Solution

As Kasa Kaña’s distillation process uses rare, heirloom and endangered varieties of sugarcane, as well as different sections of the rainforest’s mountains, we incorporated the spirit of the brand into the logo, bottle design and packaging through totems that tell the brand’s story.

The Identity

The bottle, logo, and packaging reflect the brand’s connection to nature and people. Totems wrap around the bottle, illustrating the duality of elements and effort. The logotype is subtly drawn from the shapes of sugarcane, while supporting typography comes from Filipino type designers. Even the bottle nods to antique rum flasks once carried by hand.

The Symbols of Cane and Craft

Through totem designs inspired by traditional weaving, we show how the Rum Agrikultura is made. On one side, the sun, sugarcanes and the terroir represent the natural elements of the spirit. The opposite side depicts the human hand in crafting the agricole through an eye, the rum and a barrel. Altogether, they reflect an alchemy of the first-ever Rum Agrikultura; the distilled spirit of the rainforest.

More than an identity, the design serves as a quiet rebellion against mass-produced local rum, offering a rawer, more natural, and bespoke alternative. It elevates the Filipino spirit—both literal and cultural—while telling a story that blends sustainability, artistry, and pride. By placing the Philippines confidently in the global rum conversation, this design is a tribute to our heritage and a bold step toward a more respected, craft-driven future.
